1) In the plasma of the rabbit, p-amino benzoic acid, p-amino hippuric acid, and p-amino benzoyl asparagine intravenously injected are found partially acetylated, while p-amino benzoyl aspartic acid and sulfanilic acid remain unconjugated. 2) In the urine, the ratio of acetylated form against the free form is larger in the case of p-amino benzoic acid and p-amino hippuric acid than in the case of p-amino benzoyl asparagine. Conjugated sulfanilic acid is not detected. These results that sulfanilic acid and p-amino benzoyl aspartic acid can be acetylated only when they are applied as amide compounds agree with those of the previously reported experiments with orgen homogenates. 3) While p-amino hippuric acid does not find its way into the erythrocyte, p-amino benzoic acid and sulfanilic acid go into it. 4) The ratio conjugated: free form of p-amino hippuric acid is higher in urine than in plasma, and the rate of excretion of this compound is larger than other p-aminobodies, hence it seems the kidney excretes acetyl p-amino hippuric acid far more rapidly than its free form. 5) The longarithmic values of plasma concentrations of p-amino benzoic acid, p-amino hippuric acid and sulfanilic acid shows linear decrements with time elapsed after intravenous injection. This phenomenon is not observable in the case of p-amino benzoyl asparagine and the decrement becomes less with time. 6) The straight lines obtained by plotting the logarithm of concentrations of free and total p-amino hippuric acid in the plasma respectively, against time intervals after administration, intercept the logarithm-axis by extrapolation at the same point, which indicates the logarithmic value of the initial concentration in plasma of the compound assumed to have been equally distributed between plasma and tissue fluid. The volume of extra cellular fluid can be calculated from this plasma concentration and the amount injected.7) The extra cellular fluid volume of the rabbit measured by this procedure is 23.3 percent of the body weight with a slight deviation.
