The investigation was made on the present situation of tuberculosis among workers with tuberculous lesion of various work degrees, (heavy, middle, light) work environments (outdoor, semi-indoor, indoor) and occupation types. 1) The tuberculin positive rate showed a sharp increasing trend up to the age of 25-29 and the palpable induration rate up to the age of 30-34. 2) In observing the morbidity rate in accordance with age of the total tuberculous cases, 13.1 % of all the subjects were morbid cases, among whom 76.9 % worked without subjective symptoms and with an average of labor ability. 3) Mortality due to tuberculosis has shown a conspicuous downward trend with the rate of 51:100,000 in 1953 and the fatality rate of 1:258. 4) In observing the morbidity rate of the total tuberculosis in relation to work degree, it was found to be lower among those of heavier degrees. Among those of the middle work degree the outdoor workers showed a lower rate than the indoor and semi-indoor ones. 5) By observing lesion types and roentgenological status, it is probable that the heavy work made lesions unstable and developed quickly. On the other hand, the light work seemed to make lesions somewhat arrested and slow in development. Influence of the work environments was small as seen in lesion types and roentgenological status. Thus tuberculous infection and lesion manifestation can be said to he greatly influenced by environments. Also the development of tuberculosis is thought to be largely related with the work degree.
