The rabbits had been sensitized by the emulsion of rabbits fetus or its placenta or by each cytotoxins, and then 3-7 days later the same antigen was given again intravenously (in the aural veins) or intraportally resulting as follows; 1) In the liver scattered necrotic areas are visualized. Microscopically there is a hemorrhagic or ischemic patchy necrosis associated with fibrin thrombosis and fatty degenertion of liver cells ; in other words, it shows quite similar feature to that of typical eclamptic liver in human. 2) Histologic examination of the kidneys also reveals characteristic picture of so-called glomerulonephrosis, that is, degeneration of convoluted tubules, edematous lobation of glomerular tuft, exudate in capsular space and proliferationof capsular epithelium. 3) In the non-sensitized pregnant rabbits the same results are obtained by a single intraportal infusion of the antigens. Even in the normal courses of pregnancy the antibodies for her fetus or placenta are recognized without any significant manifestations. It may be possible to explain if some factors either in maternal or fetal side upset this balance developing an allergic reaction, thus consequently the eclamptic lesions of the animals will be induced.
