In these experimental studies, using mice, I obtained the following results. 1). The antibacterial activity of marfanil against tetanus-bacillus was 1/64000 g/cc in vitro and the perfect minimal mortal dose for mice (13-16g) was 140 mg by subcutaneous injection. 2). Mice did not suffer from tetanus when sporen were injected by itself ; but they rapidly suffered from tetanus and ended in death when sporen were transplanted with a chip of wood and at the transplanted part there were successive suppration and upon it local tissue of infected wound was destracted. It seems reasonable . and effective that marfanil in used with another sulfonamide and penicillin to prevent the suppration and to inhibit growth of tetanus-bacillus at the infected wound. Mice rapidly suffered from tetanus and ended in death when surgical treatments against infected wound had not been early and perfectly performed. So it is absolutely necessary that these deeds are early and perfectly done with chemotherapies. 3). Since chemotherapeutic drugs are not so effective against tetanus-toxin, already produced, it is in such cases of course absolutely necessary to use early the great quantity of antiserum.
