• In Hume's philosophy of religion, there is no explicit argument for toleration. However, if we analyze his thesis 'Parties in general' and understand his thought on the causes of religious wars and persecution in Dialogues and Natural History of Religion, they appear to be criticisms against intoleration. In these writings, Hume intends to dispense with religious dogmatism, which is one of the causes of religious conflict. In order to prevent religious conflicts, Hume proposes a unique approach that differs from toleration. We could say that he dissolves the problem of toleration.
