Under the recent global warming, the most remarkable increase of temperature tends to occur in Arctic region. Large impact to glacier and sea ice results in large scale thawing. By contrast, widely distributed permafrost in Arctic region does not response to warming and no large scale thawing is observed. The propagation of heat wave into permafrost delays due to its characteristics in thermal regime. High water content layer in upper permafrost impedes the propagation of thawing front into permafrost as to maintain stable condition of active layer.
