• This paper focuses on Simone Weil's thought about "labor". Her severe criticism upon Descartes' philosophy reveals her view of labor itself. Journal d'usine (Journal of factory) shows the most directly her critical thought against Descartes. She experienced a pain of mechanical labor through working in some factories, and thus explored a new way of labor by criticizing the laboring world of factories where Descartes' viewpoint ruled. She expected a new world where laboring could be considered as an activity of art.
