• Metallogenetic epochs of Japan are generally grouped in four epochs, i.e., late Paleozoic to early Mesozoic, later Mesozoic to early Tertiary, late Tertiary, and Quarternary. In this review, characteristic features of the various provinces of the former two epcchs are briefly mentioned. Stress is laid on the metallogenesis and epochs of the deposits which might be formed in geosynclinal and orogeniczones.
