Observing the hydrothermal fissure filling veins, we shall take notice that they occur environed with particular altered rocks. At the Oogane Mine (southwestern Hokkaido, gold-bearing guartz veins, epithermal fissure filling), are divided the following three phases in the altered rocks : (A) carbonate-chlorite rocks, (B), quartz-kaolin rock and (C) sericite-quartz rock. These phases are contiguous to the country rocks by wall plane which often carries the strike fault clays or the selevage ones. The "Hinouchi" commonly contains both these altered rocks and the base metals bearing main veins. Thus, main depositions of the ore occur within the "Hinouchi", and the main veins do not protrude beyond the wall plane. The "Hinouchi" are formed having close relation to the mineralization, moreover to the tectonic strain. The term "Hinouchi" has been used by the miners in Japan, while the old miners have not only investigated the vein but also pursuited the "Hinouchi". The foreign miners have used the term "lode", before being defined by any authority, for these altered formations by which they were guided. If we use the term "lode" in this meaning, the "Hinouchi"will be correlated to the "lode". The writer considers that the epithermal veins generally occur in the "Hinouchi", and that the "Hinouchi" structure is greatly helpfull to explain the vein structure.
