Thinning experimental areas by control system were set up as a trial of growing superior quality trees in the forest for production of timber for construction. The experimental areas were set up in a 32-year-old HINOKI stand (No. 2 Experimental Area) and a 24-year-old HINOKI stand (No. 3 Experimental Area). The stand composition is as shown on Table 3. Both the experimental areas had been given sufficient tending after planting, such as weeding, after-culture, vine cutting, cleaning cutting and pruning. The grade composition is as shown on Tables 4 and 5, and the diameter grade composition is as shown in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5.
