The horizontal and vertical distribution of chlorine catch inside a sand-arresting enclosure on the coast has been investigated. Wind-borne chlorine was collected for two hours by means of gauze stretched over a 28 cm by 28cm frame of No. 8 galvanized wire placed with its plane at right angles to the wind direction. The amount of chlorine thus collected was found to rise and fall with the wind speed, so that it increased from the ground upwards and from the fence inwards. The chlorine catch/wind speed ratio (which may be considered as a measure of chlorine concentration) in a vertical attained a maximum at some height above the ground; the line of maximum ratio rising well above the fence on the lee side of it to descend again below the height of the fence further down-wind.
