In adaptive exponential smoothing, there is room for discussion on the problem that a smoothing constant adjusted adaptively exceeds the range of [0,1]. In this paper, selecting an objective function for adaptive exponential smoothing methods is considered and a recommendable objective function is shown. Also the validity of the obtained value of the smoothing constant is shown.
