Long-term care services face a major turning point due to introduction of long-term care insurance, and as a part of social security, a new long-term care system has been established. The purpose of this survey is to verify the processes of a time study on long-term care services, long-term care hours in the study and quantitative long-term care evaluation / specialization based on the long-term care time. From the survey results, it was confirmed that as the conditions for long-term care needs for those requiring long-term care become increasingly more severe, long-term care hours are trending upward, indicating a significant correlation. It was also found that particular care for "serving meals" and "changing positions in moving and getting into and out of wheelchairs," are long-term care services that are greatly impacting the increasing number of hours as a result of the severer conditions in long-term care needs. Through the characteristics of long-term care hours of the three major long-term care services in unit care, specialization of long-term care services was considered, which builds a plan of individual care suitable for those who require long-term care from the standpoint of unit care type of life environment. In the future, it is important to provide long-term care services based on care that maintains the dignity of those who require long-term care, and care workers are required to establish specialized long-term care services that focus on the practice of support for self-reliance in daily life.
