The purpose of this paper is (1) to propose a new model of social orientation, which integrates two motivational components, that is, the classical "geometrical model of social orientation" and "equality motive", (2) to propose a new method to measure equality motive, (3) to analyze how people make choices for the given 2x2 matrices, according to this new model, and (4) to examine the validity and usefulness of the proposed model, based on experimental data. The proposed model in this paper will be called a "hybrid model of social orientation".
