For forward converters with tertiary winding, energy recovery is always obtained through transformer reset. In this case, if RCD snubber is used for suppressing turn-off surge, the RCD snubber, as well as the spurious elements of the energy recovery path, will affect transformer reset. This research clarifies the influences of both the snubber parameters and the spurious elements of the energy recovery path on transformer reset. As a result, the transformer reset and the output efficiency of the converter can be well designed with these developed results.
