"SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence, which has a variety of sub patterns and functions, is the most common sentence structure in modern Chinese. In learning Chinese as a second language, learners have problems in using "SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence, but there is no systematic investigations and studies on its teaching and learning. This paper sets six sub patterns of "SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence as the object. Based on this classification, this paper tries to make meticulous error analysis and investigations on its acquisition from an angle of Chinese teaching as a second language. It has six chapters. Tbe first chapter gives an introduction to the reason why choose this subject and the objective of the paper. Then it sets six sub patterns of "SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence based on the achievement of the previous studies. In the second chapter, we illustrate the purpose, method and object of the investigation. In the third chapter, we provide information of the questionnaire. In the fourth chapter, we analyze the acquisition situations, explore the acquisition characteristics and regularity of the foreign students when they study the "SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence. In the fifth chapter, the thesis offers some suggestions on the teaching materials writing and classroom teaching. In the sixth chapter, we summarize the factors which effect the second language learners' acquisition of "SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence, and come to the conclusion that the complexity and the flexibility of the "SHI・・・・・・DE" sentence are the main causes.
