The aim of this paper is to design the creation of learning activity as dialogical and collaborative practice. By focusing on John Dewey's learning theory and progressive schools in the early 20th century, I will clarify the theory and practice of constructing collaborative and communicative learning in schools. This kind of active learning is highly demanded in the today's post-industrial era. The learning should not be completed through one-way processes that teachers instruct students, but it is constructed and reconstructed through the interaction between teachers and students. Communication and dialogue are keynote in this process. Radical way of learning is realized at Dewey School which John Dewey established in 1896 and many progressive schools in the early 20th century.
