This paper investigates the transformation of the ethnic-minority education in a time of globalization by exploring the case of Korean Chinese education in China. The main feature of the ethnic-minority education in China is bilingual education in ethnic-minority schools. The original policy was to teach Chinese to Korean Chinese students as the national standard language, while at the same time teaching Korean as their ethnic language, thus allowing students with both the national and ethnic identities. However, globalization has transformed the language of the "ethnic-minority" into that of the global capital and the "minority school" into a globalizing institution that now attracts new groups of students.
