Family responsibility has been regarded as a part of traditional thought in China, which was taken as a kind of virtue. But, recent investigations showed that the sense of responsibility of the Chinese youth toward family is deteriorated. In these investigations, however, their methods of evaluation are based more on traditional thoughts. Moreover, studies so far have been focusing on the responsibility of the parents. The purposes of the paper are firstly, to review the past studies on "the development of the sense of responsibility", "the definition of family responsibility" and "the relation of family relationship and family responsibility"; secondly, to argue the necessity of considering not only from parents', but also the responsibility of the children toward family.
