The purpose of this study is to examine the linkages between kindergarten or day-care center and primary school. As of writing I study on the system of pre-school class (0 class) in Denmark. The pre-school class for the 5/6-year-old forms the bridge between kindergarten/day-care activities and primary school. The Act on the Content in the [Bornehave-klass] defines certain themes that must be contained in the pre-school classes' educational plans : (1) Language and forms of expression (2) The nature and natural science phenomena (3) Music (4) Movement (5) Social skills (6) Being together and cooperation. The teaching in the pre-school classes shall as far as possible be given in the form of play and other developing activities (e.g. they are trained to sit, concentrate, remember, retell, and make drawings of what they have experienced. They are furthermore trained in social processes ; listen to each other and tell stories ; in movements and rhythmic ; and they are prepared for learning through play). In the teaching, it is endeavored to familiarize the children with the daily routines of school life. The pre-school class is well-organized to link with kindergarten or day-care center.
