• Investigating the effect of pituilobine, a new derivative of the extract of the hypophysis cerebri, upon the blood pressure, the isolated intestine and upon the uterus, isolated as well as in situ, of the rabbit, and examining the toxicity of it for mice, the authors obtained the results summarized as follows: Pituilobine has an exciting effect upon the uterus of rabbits, and its action point seems to lie in the sympathetic nerves. In comparing the efficacy of this extract with that of pituitrin on the isolated, or non-isolated uterus, the former acts upon them to some extent more strongly than the latter, in very much the same way as in isolated intestines. The effects of both preparation on the blood-pressure and on the toxicity are not different from each other. But their effect on the uterus, isolated and in situ, are very slight at the beginning of pregnancy, while they are almost the same at the end of pregnancy, and in non-pregnancy.
