The paper first analyzes the characteristics of RFID event stream, makes a survey of state of the art technology over RFID event processing, and explores the challenging problems. The research issues focus on RFID event modeling, RFID data cleaning, event detection algorithm, query optimization, real-time task scheduling, complex event processing, and system design. Finally, the design of a high-performance real-time event stream processing system is presented.
