In this paper, we have illustrated the designing of WiMAX physical layer on field programmable gate array (FPGA) using intellectual property (IP) cores for better performance and reconfigurability. As WiMAX is relatively new technology so the cores needed to design its physical layer are not easily available. We have proposed the design architecture and synthesized the available cores using the Quartus II software's integrated synthesis tool. The result of physical synthesis i.e. resource allocation and register transfer level (RTL) of the Reed Solomon and fast fourier transform (FFT) block has been shown. RTL coding of the FFT for the generation of 1024 point FFT and Reed Solomon in verilog HDL has been used. These are the codes of two blocks of our project; we have also adopted IP cores for these blocks, which are provided by the Altera.
