The Miocene Suzu Formation of the Noto Group develops widely in the northeastern part of the Noto Peninsula. Following guide species of planktonic foraminifera are recognized from this area; Globigerinoides sicanus DE STEFANI, Orbulina suturalis BRONNIMANN, Globorotalia (Globorotalia) miozea miozea FINLAY and Globorotalia (Turborotalia) bykovae SUBBOTINA, PlSHVANOVA & IVANOVA. Therefore, the Suzu Formation is correlated with the planktonic foraminiferal zone N. 8 to N. 11. This result is concordant with the previous fossil records and radiometric dating. Present article deals also with the biostratigraphic meaning of two interesting planktonic foraminifera; they are Globigerina bulloides bulloides D'ORBIGNY and Globorotalia (Turborotalia) mayeri nympha JENKINS. In this area Globigerina bulloides bulloides appears in N. 8 Zone which is determined by the associated occurrence of Globigerinoides sicanus. Still more Globorotalia (Turborotalia) mayeri nympha which has been reported just from N. 13 to N. 15 Zone in New Zealand is recognized from N. 9 Zone in Noto.
