• Fires due to the restoration of electricity service were reported at the time of the 1995 Kobe earthquake as a new threat for life and property. In this paper, a new automatic circuit breaker will be introduced as an inexpensive device to shut off the power line as a response to strong shaking. Since the circuit shut off mechanism is mechanical in nature, it is durable and cut-off thresholds can be set at any shaking intensity depending upon the user's needs.
