Due to comparatively slow development of China's electronic home appliances industry in contrast with its rapid macroscopic economic growth, as well as the globalization of Chinese market, Chinese enterprises are operating in diversified manners. Their business strategies are characterized in that they express hopes of long-term growth. Among them, Haier and TCL represent two different types of diversified businesses in China. Characteristically, Haier focuses on winning the competition, while TCL focuses on business expansion. However, China's electronic home appliance enterprises are facing three major problems in diversified businesses. The first problem is how to grasp the opportunities for diversified business strategies. The second one is how to overcome the disadvantages of the expanded OEM business. The third one is how to deal with the issues of conglomerate management strategies.
