The utilization of biomass fuels is one important method to reduce CO_2 emission in power generation. In general, compared to coal, biomass fuels such as RPF (Refuse Paper & Plastic Fuel), waste tire, waste wood and so on have special characteristic. For example, chlorine content of RPF and waste wood is higher than that of coal. IHI has been developed and demonstrated circulating fluidized bed boiler (CFB) on biomass fuels firing. In this paper, the special characteristics and operation results of IHI-CFB will be described.
