A new photoreception process based on intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGC) contributes to the pupillary light reflex (PLR) in primates. The objective of this study was to produce a quantitative description of the human pupil reaction to long and short wavelength light stimuli in high and low photopic conditions, taking into consideration the ipRGC activity mechanism. The findings show that the proposed method of analysis reveals significant differences between the cases analyzed. This additional information about PLR will allow a better understanding of ipRGC activity.
