The results presented in this paper are based on a questionnaire administered to 174 students in Oral English classes at Kwassui High School. 15% of each student's grade for these classes is based on a system of participation points gained for volunteering to answer questions and making efforts in classwork throughout the year. The students' opinions about the desirability of such a system, their level of satisfaction with the points they receive, and their perceptions of any unfairness in the system are presented and discussed.
