The purpose of this article is to point out some historical view-points concerning "the connection of education with life" in Post-War education, which is generally said to have developed under the strong influence of educational empiricism 'imported' from the Unites States. It is true that such influence existed throughout the above process, but it is also true that it had some original "roots" in the foregoing educational background. For example, educational tradition which worked in the Japanese folk-way; influence of various types of "life-centered education" which is offspring of so-called Taisho New Education Movement and which revived after the war; the method of education in Kokumingakko system during the war-time which first realized the connection of education with life, though in somewhat distorted form, in Japanese public education; The character of Teacher's Manual for Komin (Civics) in 1947 which was the first sample of curriculum revision by Mombusho (Ministry of Education) after the war. They must be examined and analysed so that the real structure of the education revision in Post-War Japan may be formed out.
