Nowadays, the Turkic people inhabit a broad area stretching across Eurasia, from the former Yugoslavia in the West to Northwestern China in the East. Kazakhstan is one of the six sovereign republics that came into the world stage after the collapse of Soviet Union. Turkey, with her systematic progress towards a modern democratic nationhood, in many aspects, has become a mentor and model for these Turkic origin States with having several commonalities. Each Turkic State, however, has not only diverse cultural and social attributes, but also its own educational characteristic. These diversities have to be taken into account at every level in bilateral and multilateral relationships. The rise of network-based educational applications in the multicultural platforms represents enormous opportunities for educational distance online collaborations among these countries. The main purpose of this paper is to give information in detail about an international distance education collaboration model, established between Anadolu University of Turkey and Ahmet Yesevi University of Kazakhstan. After the learning networks and collaboration issues in e-learning milieus reviewed briefly, analogies in social and cultural aspects between these two countries are discussed. Subsequently, Anadolu University of Turkey and Ahmet Yesevi University of Kazakhstan as the collaborating institutions are introduced. After presenting the pilot study, offering a distance course between Turkey and Kazakhstan, the obtained results are discussed. Finally, the proposed educational distance collaboration model is described and evaluated.
