In this paper, the authors introduce an overview of the demonstration test on geological storage of carbon dioxide, which was carried out in Nagaoka, Niigata. The paper also shows the results of CO_2 behavior monitoring obtained by Time-Lapse Cross Well Seismic tomography, and long-term CO_2 behavior prediction method using the simulator called GEM-GHG. Moreover, the CO_2 potential storage capacity in Japan was calculated by the parameters of categorized aquifers and equations required for the estimation of storage capacity. As a result, the calculated storage capacity value was 146.1 Gt-CO_2.
