Developmentalists' approach, in which they try to apply the principles in relational development of infants to exploring clinical work in psychotherapy, is thought to be useful for explaining clinical work from the scientific view. In this article, the effectiveness of the dynamic systems theory (DST), on which developmentalisits' theories depend, was examined that can be available or not in exploring clinical work in psychotherapy. As a results, in addition to mutual regulation in affective interaction between therapist and client, it was thought that reflexive interaction with each one's self occur and that both interactions are related indispensably. If the dyadic expansion of consciousness model can be applied to therapeutic change process in clinical practices with children, adolescents, and adults, not only behavioral interaction which is measured objectively but also subjective interaction that is reflexive interaction with one's self are needed. So, DST is thought to have availability and limitation in exploring clinical work in psychotherapy.
