一戸建住宅における修繕及び増改築に関する研究

In this study we report the experiences of renovations and extentions of the detached houses being built for more than 20 years ago, based on answers to questionnaires by the house owners. We selected 2 large residential areas in NARA CITY as samples, both of which were developed under the high economic growth era in this country. The results were summarized as follows; 1) The renovations of the roofs, the external walls, and the foundations of the houses were done for protecting the leakages of water, for decorating the external walls beautifully, and for firming up the foundations of the houses. 2) The renovations of the bathrooms, the lavatories, and the kitchens were done for installing the newly designed, more convenient equipment for more comfortable livings. At the same time, the paintings of the living rooms were made for changing the atmosphere for enjoying the daily lives. There had been extensive renovations to these houses being built for more than 20 years. 3) The extentions of another rooms for their children in their houses were increasing due to the growths of the family members, but these days the extentions of another rooms had been decreased because of dwindlings of the family members. 4) Most of the house owners, who want to rebuild, remove, renovate or extend their own houses as frequently as the house owners who want to settle in the present houses.
