• This paper examines how invisibleness works in the visible and actual world from the perspectives of both literary and cultural studies. In regards to literature, this paper studies the fiction of one of the leading American female writers, Edwidge Danticat, who was born and lived in Haiti to be 12 years old. Danticat believs in so-called "invisible communications." In regards to cultural studies, this paper also studies the unique example of Yoshinoya, the beef-bowl restaurant, which in Okinawa was obliged to change its table layouts from "counter style" to "walk-up style." This change was strongly connected with the thick layers of communication in Okinawa which have been cultivated in their unique culture.
