This paper tries to show a classroom-teacher initiated research using diaries as a research tool. It was conducted on a class at a national college of technology in Japan. Specifically the study focuses on the usefulness of diaries as a research tool and the difficulties experienced, and assessment of the value of diaries as a research tool. The results show the effectiveness of diary as a research tool.
