This paper aims at introducing the reader to four initiatives related to energy education in Europe. 'Intelligent Energy Education' focuses on the energy education system, from the perspective of stimulating the uptake of renewable and efficient energy technologies. 'FuturEnergia', supported by a European trade association, uses online activities and competitions to encourage students to change behaviour regarding energy efficiency, resource efficiency and climate protection. MOS, a regional initiative within the international Eco-Schools programme, includes energy in its scheme of environmental management, certification, and sustainable development education for schools. The 'European master in renewable energy' is operated in close cooperation with renewable energy companies, with the aim of meeting growing industry demand for renewable energy engineers.
