Leisure hour activities, as the twenty-first century is coming soon, will become more popular. Interest in healthy life, as aging process of population will continue, will increase. A comparison was made between students of Tokyo Women's Physical Education College and another university on actual state of leisure hour activities and plans for future. A questionnaire survey was conducted for 295 college freshman woman students majoring physical education, music and home economics. The result may be summarized as follows ; 1) Regarding leisure hour activities, 70 per cent of such hours are spent by resting type activities. Self-realization type activities such as sports and hobby activities vary according to the majoring subjects. As the school year proceeds, more active programs are taken. 2) Regarding leisure hour activities, remarkable versatility in the events was observed, while music activities, regardless to majoring subjects, were found to play an important role. Sports activities which are full of team plays, social and game oriented activities are well preferred. 3) Future prospect of leisure activities when the respondents grow to middle age, varied widely, though average number of activities per person was not large and hence interest was not too strong. Those who have experienced variety of leisure activities and those who participate in sports frequently seemed to contemplate seriously various leisure activitiesIn summarizing, social and game oriented, outdoor sports and health promoting activities are well liked as prospective future leisure activities. In hobby and creative activities, events that are daily life and self involvement oriented seem to become more popular.
