• Inspectors count the number of pipes by visual observation, which results in errors. This paper proposes a new algorithm using image processing to count the number of steel pipes. According to this method, the cavity of the steel pipe is determined by estimating its circularity and area size. We could achieve a 100% of recognition rate by setting the circularity at 0.6.
