In recent years, many studies have come to be made on oriental thought, particularly Zen. The number of scientific studies on Time experience, which is a most fundamental question to us, has increased remarkably since the 1960s. However, the number of scientific studies on the problems of both Zen and Time experience as an integrated question is extremely limited, so that there are still a number of problems to be solved. The reasons for this are as follows. 1) The question itself is a very difficult one, and there is no sufficient sure theoretical background to rely upon. 2) Many and various factors are involved so that it is very difficult to control experimental conditions. 3) The method of experiment is extremely restricted, and it is technically very difficult to make measurements in a natural condition. In the following, we will review a series of studies we made on Zazen and Time, and discuss various problems in order to obtain a guide for future studies.
