This paper aims to discuss necessary conditions for realizing independent living of users in social welfare facilities from the perspective of the subject theory. First, I show that users in the social welfare facilities cannot realize independent living, because their needs are not recognized and satisfied. It is clear if we compare livings in social welfare facilities and ones in communities. Second, through examining the development process of the subject theory in social welfare, I show that subjectivity can be realized when others' perspectives supplement subjective perspective. Third, I conclude that synthesizing perspectives of users and staffs in social welfare facilities and others in community is most important one of necessary conditions for realizing independent living of users in social welfare facilities.
