In this study, the applicability of bridge deterioration forecasting method, which is developed by the Markovian transition probability model in cooperate with the exponential hazard model, is discussed for bridges in Fukui prefecture. Furthermore, an optimal maintenance strategy which can determine the optimal scheme of repair considering life-cycle cost is proposed for bridges in Fukui prefecture. The strategy is developed by using the Markovian transition probability model and mathematical programming. The usefulness and effectiveness of the strategy are demonstrated in the numerical example.
