It is said that there has been a decline in the scholastic ability of university students in Japan, and the Japanese ability of those students today has declined as well. With this in mind, Nakamori and Yamada conducted research into the ability of students at Toyohashi University of Technology to read and write kanji in 2005. And we announced the results in the article. Therefore, we strongly felt the necessity to conduct research into the Japanese ability of students including kanji ability. So we conducted research on the ability of students at Toyohashi University of Technology to read and write kanji, proverbs, honorifics, kanji idioms, kanji radical identification, kanji stroke order, etc in 2006. The results of this research are presented in this bulletin and are divided into four separate article.
