Using web sites to teach foreign languages has been increasing in recent years. In addition, the teaching of culture in foreign language instructions has become a standard element. This research examined the effects of using authentic web sites on cultural learning, comparing web browsing with paper-based reading. The results showed that using web sites to teach culture improved college students' cultural knowledge more efficiently than paper-based reading. Especially for the students with poor reading ability in English, web browsing was significantly effective.
