Writing is one of the major four fields of language learning, though it might be regarded as the most difficult skill to teach and that is why it has been least dealt with among teachers. This important, but difficult, genre of communicative competence, however, draws attention of language learners and teachers these days, since written communication through E-mails and so forth is now getting more common than before. Writing needs to be more interactive among people, that is, more communicative. So this might be how the term 'communicative writing' is considered to be an important factor in language classrooms. This study will discuss the importance of writing as a communicative skill, especially focusing on the tasks using dialogue journal writing (DJW), including its theory and practice. Some of the students' comments will be picked up as authentic responses in the practice of DJW, and finally, some suggestions will be made for further study of teaching writing.
