A simple microscopic model for resonant cold, two-component Fermi superfluids is presented that is directly realized in cold atom systems and provides a good approximation to neutron matter. Extremely simple and tightly constrained by thermodynamics and scaling analyses, this model exhibits a diverse phase structure comprising population imbalanced phases, and should be treated as a benchmark for validating many-body theories that attempt to describe more complex systems such as high-density QCD. I shall discuss our present state of knowledge about this model, and how it might be used to help understand QCD.
