A dual frequency circularly polarized microstrip antenna is proposed for UHF (950 MHz) and microwave (2.45 GHz) RFID Reader applications. By properly combined circularly polarized square ring slot structure into well known circularly polarized truncated square patch antenna, a dual-frequency circularly polarized microstrip antenna are presented. This antenna is fed by a modified L-probe. The analysis and design of the proposed antenna have been performed using the full-wave electromagnetic simulator IE3D. From the calculation, the proposed antenna patch size is reduced by about 14% compared to the well-known truncated corner circularly polarized square patch antenna at a given frequency. Good return loss are achieved for the both band, although the axial ratio bandwidth is narrow.
