• Characterization and quantity of umburnt char present in bed material (UBC) and cyclone trap fly ash (FA) produced from Blair Athol (BA) and Nanton (NT) in PFBC were attempted. Umburnt char were characterized by scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDAX), thermogravimetry combine with differential thermal analyzer (TG-DTA), and X-ray diffraction. Char content in fly ashes was quantified by differential thermal gravimetry (DTG) and weight loss (WL) profiles from TG-DTA. Important peak to calculation to calculate umburnt char content in sample is 580 (450-625)℃ peak. From database were recorded during reaction, weight loss of BAFA and NTFA in that peak are 0.4% and 0.58% wt respectively.
