A numerical simulation of a turbulent premixed flame stabilized by a pilot flame and a bluff body was performed using the LES turbulent model and a recently proposed combustion model. The latter model which is applicable to laminar and turbulent premixed combustion, includes the turbulence, the temperature effect of unburned premixed gas, the pressure effect in a combustor and the quenching effect due to flame stretch. In this paper, first, the flame propagation to the premixed gas from the pilot flame was estimated. Due to a flame stretch through the shear layer between the pilot flame and the premixed gas, a local quenching occured around the top of the layer. Thus, the propagation point was located below the shear layer. Next, the stable premixed flame after the flame propagation was estimated. Due to the organized motion created by the bluff body and the shear layer, strong fluctuations of the flame were seen. The distribution of the time averaged temperature and the intensity of the temperature fluctuation were compared with experimental data and found to be in good agreement.
