Unusual unsteady flow is induced by variable inlet guide vanes (VIGV) set at the inlet of centrifugal compressor, and it decreases efficiency of the compressor. We tried to clarify the cause of unsteady flow by numerical simulation for circular cascade that corresponds to VIGV. Two-dimensional incompressible and viscous unsteady flow around circular cascade was analyzed by SIMPLER method with third-order upwind scheme, Kawamura-Kuwahara (K-K) scheme. The numerical analysis was conducted under some conditions of attack angle and flow rate, and the results were compared with experiments. The unsteady flow, which agrees with experiment qualitatively, has been captured by the numerical analysis and we discuss the cause of unsteady flow.
